P.A.K.T. FOUNDATION

The PAKT Foundation was established in 2004 to provide marketing, merchandising, collective buying power and fundraising support to the *animal rescue community, giving them resources for self-reliance.

The PAKT Foundation was founded and funded by Fran Lantz, an entrepreneur with over 25 years of sales and marketing expertise, in partnership with her professional business colleagues.

• The PAKT Foundation will develop programs that invite corporations that benefit from animals to become part of the solution of caring for animals. This can be achieved through sponsorship opportunities, employee donor matching programs, preferred vendor status, targeted marketing programs, web-based marketing programs, development of branded and co-branded merchandise, and promotional events.

• The PAKT Foundation believes that there is much to be gained from exploring commonalities among the animal rescue community rather than seeking exclusion based on beliefs.

• The PAKT Foundation will assist the rescue community with the implementation of technology to maximize their ability to communicate with their members and for grantwriting necessities.

• The PAKT Foundation will develop mentorship and volunteer programs for various youth organizations within their local rescue communities.

• The PAKT Foundation will seek to include the various animal medical associations to develop a low cost healthcare network for rescued animals.

• The PAKT Foundation will not engage in political issues and activities, since they do not fit the criteria for which we were founded.

• The PAKT Foundation will assist the organizations in creating press worthy stories so as to maximize press relations within their communities, and harness the power that positive press can offer.

• The PAKT Foundation will seek grant money, corporate sponsorships, private funding and develop proprietary products as a means for creating the funding to support the organizations we work with.

*The PAKT Foundation defines the animal rescue community as: **sanctuaries, rehabilitation and release facilities, retirement facilities, ***shelters and rescue groups working within the local communities. All beneficiaries must have 501(c)(3) status.

**An animal sanctuary is a place of safety and refuge for animals in need. Except where medically necessary to alleviate permanent and fatal medical conditions, euthanasia is never an option. That means that animals with physical limitations, or behavioral issues, are not put down unless it is medically necessary. Rather they are cared for the duration of their natural lives. Animals are not exploited for commercial purposes, and are not exposed to the public when to do so would cause fear or anxiety to the animals. No breeding is allowed unless the breeding is specifically for an approved and scientifically sound breed and release program for endangered species. To the extent possible, natural settings and companions are provided. Herd animals are with groups, and solitary exotics are likewise kept alone. The primary purpose of any reputable animal sanctuary is the animal residents. Sanctuary animals do not have to “perform” or otherwise “earn their keep”

***Shelters must be working towards placement of all healthy-adoptable pets.
